Crazy For YouThe Aspen Community Theater is smack dab in the middle of their annual fall musical.  This year’s show, Crazy For You wowed audiences last week and has been causing quite a stir.  Letters to the Editor of the local newspapers can’t hardly believe they aren’t in New York!

Aspen, and the Roaring Fork Valley, are full of talented actors, singers and dancers so if you’re looking for something different while you’re in town, look no further.

‘Crazy for You’ is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930’s playboy, whose dream in life is to dance. And despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be-ex-fiancee, Bobby achieves his dream!  It’s a high energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers and classic Gershwin music.

G’head, buy tickets and go!  The final week of performances starts tomorrow November 15th and runs evenings at 7pm thru Saturday and concludes with a Sunday matinee at 2pm.  Tickets are available at the Wheeler Box Office or at aspenshowtix.com.

Escobar Comedy Crew photo by Nick Tininenko

The comedy in Aspen continues this week with almost-home grown comics on Thursday evening March 1st.   This mix of Aspen locals has years of combined nationwide experience, but for the most part have all settled in the Roaring Fork Valley.  If you’re up for good belly laughter in a perfectly intimate space for comedy then Comedy @ Escobar is for you.  Think of it as the bridge from apres ski to a night on the town.

The talented and funny bunch of comics include:  Beth Brandon, Don Chaney, Alexa Fitzpatrick, Glenn Smith and Mark Thomas.  Each comic has challenged themselves to bring new material to each show, so whether you’re an Aspen local or an honored guest, the laughs will be fresh each time.  Comedy @ Escobar is an every-other-Thursday series that started in December and continues through March.  Escobar is located at 426 E. Hyman on the mall just below the Aspen Psychic.  Doors open at 8pm and Showtime is 8:30pm, and the cost is free if the audience promises to have a drink or three.  Not bad for a night out in Aspen!
